- John Van Gardner. Fortran and the Genesis of Project Intercept. Gardner was one of the IBM Customer Engineers who installed 704 serial 13 at Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta, GA in May 1956. This memoir describes how in 1957 he debugged a hardware problem that had resulted in the Fortran compiler behaving in a nondeterministic manner.
