Software Selection Criteria

Software artifacts offered for donation must meet at least one, preferably two, of the following critera:

1. Sold a significant number of copies or had a large install base
2. Serves to demonstrate a significant and/or colossal failure
3. Introduced a new paradigm, product family, or seeded a new industry
4. Developed using a new and historically significant software development methodology
5. Supports existing Museum artifacts
6. The underlying source code of the software has qualities of merit worth preserving
7. The software was utilized in something of historical import
8. Sufficiently antiquated, i.e. 1970s and earlier (should also qualify under another criterion)
9. Had a profound impact on society or culture
